PARENT & TOT CLASSES
American Red Cross Parent and Child
Aquatics helps young children (aged 6 months through up to 2
years) become comfortable in and around the water so they are
ready to learn to swim. Parent and Child Aquatics gives
parents information and techniques to help orient their children
to the water and to supervise water activities in a safe manner.
Prerequisites
There are no skill prerequisites for
Parent and Child Aquatics. A child must be at least 6
months old to be enrolled in Parent and Child Aquatics. A
parent or other care giving adult is required to accompany each
child in the water and participate in the classes. Parent
and child Aquatics introduces infants and young children to
aquatics in two levels:

Angelfish is for children who
are 6 months to 12 months old and have either no water
experience or one previous session of water adjustment
lessons.
-
Starfish is for children who are
18 months to 2 years old and have have had two or more
previous sessions of water adjustment lessons, submerge only
reluctantly.
Course Length
There is no minimum or maximum
course length. Generally, Parent and Child Aquatics works
well if you schedule 8 lessons of no more than 30 minutes, at
least twice a week.
Class Size
It is recommended that Parent and
Child Aquatics classes maintain an instructor-to-parent and
child ratio of no more than one instructor to 10 pairs.
SWIM TEAM PREPARATION
SPRING SWIM TEAM FOR
AGES 4-18
Beginning Monday, March 10, Swim
Team will be held every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for 10
weeks (excluding spring break). There will be two sessions
daily 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm, each session lasting one hour.
WHERE: The
Swim Team will meet at the Westward Look lap pool.
COST: $100.00
for all ten weeks, which includes daily practices, pool rental,
and several swim meets.
